Spent most of the weekend in San Francisco, though it was not the wonderful weekend I had planned for or anticipated. Will spare the details. Ultimately thankful for Bill's tea and sympathy.

Returned early enough Sunday to get a good night's sleep and then spend a relaxing, melatonin-enhancing day at the beach on Monday. Would that every week had a 3-day weekend...

"Rising from the rubble" moment: as I was getting to the parking lot to leave the beach, met Fran�ois (yes, really), a transplanted Strasbourgeois now living weekdays in Santa Ynez, and weekends at a home in L.A. Very cute, conversation-friendly, and a great kisser. [Yes, Virginia, it can go from zero to sixty in under 10 minutes.] Made plans to talk later in the week about meeting up again (a real date?), and once again felt that slight flush of excitement and anticipation that comes with wanting to genuinely get to know someone better.

Hope may spring eternal.
