Midsummer - Belated

Well, belated just barely. Enjoyed a GREAT sunny long evening last night with Jodi and Bob on the deck of the Shoreline Caf at Leadbetter Beach -- mojito in one hand, chicken nachos in the other. A huge improvement in weather over last year's foggy/overcast celebration.

Have somehow managed to rebound into great moods. Yes, there are still the occasional black-lined clouds lingering, but what the hell... they'll always be there. The great thing about dabbling in Buddhism is realizing more and more how true it is that I have to accept not being too attached to being Happy, because it will pass, and not to be too attached to being morosely, deeply, weepily Sad, because that too will pass.

On another note: am strangely dabbling in nouveau-Country music with a great singer I heard on NPR about a month ago, named Laura Cantrell. Just got one of her older (2000) CDs recently and have been strangely humming and singing along with the twangy ditties for the past few days. She's performing next month at a place in LA called McCabe's Guitar Shop. I'm thinking about going -- may have to sucker someone into going with me.

Even though the days get shorter from here on out, it's still a great feeling knowing that the entire, glorious (though interminably busy) summer lies spread before us.
